Demonstration WORKSHOPS WITH TASTINGS/LUNCHES
Learn How to Add Global and Garden Flavors To Enhance Your Meals
Located in northern Virginia, Glenfiddich Farm Cookery & Gardens is a 175-year-old former dairy farm located near Hamilton, just outside of Leesburg in the beautiful Virginia Piedmont region of Western Loudoun. Originally called Gobblers Knob after the multitude of resident wild turkeys on the farmlands, it was later renamed Glenfiddich – Celtic for Valley of the Deer – to celebrate the many deer that continue to reside on the property.
The Cookery was started in February 2005 by Olwen Woodier, co-owner of the circa 1840s Glenfiddich Farm she shares with ceramic artist and photographer Richard Busch of (glenfiddichfarm.com) Glenfiddich Farm Pottery and rfbphotos.com . Richard makes a wide selection of functional stoneware in his studio at Glenfiddich Farm Pottery, which he sells in his showroom.
The lunch cooking classes for Special Groups only – business team building, book clubs, etc. are no longer held at the Farm. I am now doing demonstration workshops throughout most of the year mostly on weekdays. The demonstration cooking classes are followed by tastings, or a full lunch, as desired. Such events usually take around two hours from set-up to plating, starting around 11.30am and finishing around 1.30pm. Hands-on partiipation is also an option.
Group demonstration workshops/classes are popular for book clubs, garden clubs, office colleagues, friends, birthdays, and corporate team building. Groups are welcome to choose their own dates, day times (no evenings), and menu themes. We will propose recipes for the tastings or lunches and work on your requested choices. Mediterranean is a popular theme, which includes cuisines from Spain, France, and Italy, and also Turkey, Israel, Morocco, Portugal, Greece, and other countries in the Middle East. The recipes can be geared toward vegetarians or vegans, as needed.
The cooking demonstrations that Olwen offers (using her range of electric appliances) can be for groups in community centers, offices, large home kitchens, etc. $500 per demonstration with tastings. If a complete meal is desired, the price will increase by $30 per person.
